Advice on uploading data collected on handbase to a central Access database

posted Wednesday, 21 September 2005
The attached document is a first draft of the instructions for uploading data collected on a handheld using the Handbase 3 software, to a central Access database that a team of people access. To place into context there are some references to local issues, but the idea holds. I've also placed the emphasis on how to do this using the cheapest version of Handbase 3 (the more expensive versions will automate this process). The key stumbling block has been the different date formats in handbase and access - this is only a stumbling block because I've not had the time to look into it - and the need to account for the access database generating automated numbers which act as the primary key, and ensuring that these numbers tally.

That said, all fun, fun and fun and I myself and a colleague have successfully used these for registers and job recording, and produced wonderful Access reports afterwards. Click here for those instructions
