I’ve been continuing to research a means of capturing lecture material and making this available online (flash file), and as a podcast (mpeg4 file).
The challenge is that these lectures do not use powerpoint (or an equivalent). The discipline is mathematics, and the lecture style is chalk and talk.
The chosen solution has been to use a tablet pc, capture what is being written / displayed on the screen using Camtasia, and the audio via a clip mic. The output from Camtasia is an avi file, this is then converted to an mpeg4 file using software from movavi.com
Some examples, are available from,

The next stage is to scale this up in terms of the length of time, improving the notation software (to include colours, larger font), and look at the file size. Finally, look at a Mac solution – some in the Maths Department have a soft spot for Macs.
